North East England Attracts More Cruises Than Ever

This year the highest number of cruise ships will set sail for North East England as the region welcomes an all-time high of 50 cruise ship visits in 2017,

With more cruise lines than ever before discovering all that North East England has to offer, Northern Secrets is on hand throughout the year organising day trips to make sure the thousands of passengers disembarking at the Port of Tyne have a fantastic time in the region taking in world-class attractions such as Durham Cathedral, recently crowned the UK heritage site of the year, Alnwick Castle, renowned for its links to Harry Potter and Downton Abbey, as well as visiting NewcastleGateshead.

The Port of Tyne’s cruise and ferry business adds some £60 million to the economy of North East England supporting an estimated 1,700 tourism related jobs.  2017 sees the return of Disney Magic in July. The Disney Magic cruise is the height of luxury. Spread over 11 decks, the ship carries around 2,700 passengers, who can enjoy a huge variety of onboard restaurants, including animated dining rooms where the walls come to life, to delight younger passengers.
